Muscogee County Jail Roster Overview
The official Muscogee County inmate records search path is the Tyler Jail Search. The sheriff site links inmate search as a public service, and the clerk's court portal also lists Jail Search under public access. The portal is free to inspect and no public login was observed during research. It does require JavaScript and cookies, so a browser that blocks either one can make the roster look broken.
The roster covers jail custody episodes. It can return current jailings and released or historical jailings, but no official retention window or roster refresh interval was posted. If the result card shows no release date or release time, the person may still be in custody. If the person has been sentenced to state prison, the county roster is no longer the right tool. Use the Georgia Department of Corrections locator for state custody and the BOP or ICE locator for those separate systems.
Search Muscogee County Inmate Records
The jail roster starts with one broad search box, not a long multi-field form. A name, booking number, SO number, or charge word can work, but broad search means exact-looking entries may still return extra results. The app begins searching only after at least three characters are entered. The empty result message says no jailing matches the search criteria, so spelling and shorter terms matter.
- Open the Muscogee County Jail Search and allow JavaScript and cookies.
- Enter at least three characters from the last name, full name, SO number, booking number, or charge term.
- Use Date Booked or Date Released facets, including custom date ranges, if the list is too wide.
- Sort by Relevance or Booking Number and read the result cards.
- Click View Jailing to open the detailed inmate profile.
- Call the jail or file a records request when the online record does not answer the custody question.
Muscogee County Roster Search Fields
The Muscogee County roster search fields are best understood as a broad search with post-search filters. Date facets appear after results load. Pagination appears when the total result count is greater than 10, and each result can open a View Jailing detail page.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search for a jailing... | Text search | Effectively required | Search calls start when the value has at least three characters. |
| Filters / Filter Results | Side panel | No | Opens Date Booked and Date Released facets. |
| Date Booked | Date facet | No | Includes Today, Yesterday, Past Week, Past Month, Past 3 Months, Past Year, and Custom. |
| Date Released | Date facet | No | Uses the same bucket structure as Date Booked. |
| From Date / To Date | Date picker | Conditional | Used for custom ranges; one date is required if the other is entered. |
| Sort | Menu | No | Observed choices were Relevance and Booking Number. |
Muscogee County Inmate Profile Shows
The result card is a summary. It can show the defendant name, SO number, booking number, facility, date booked, time booked, date released, time released, arresting agency, and the first three charges. When there are more than three charges, the card can show a count and a More line. The detail profile has deeper fields, but it still is a jail record rather than a final court disposition.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Booking Number | The jailing event number, such as the researched BN26-02649 pattern. |
| SO Number | The sheriff-office identifier tied to the defendant. |
| Booking / Arrest Dates | The custody booking date and arrest date, which may not be the same as the offense date. |
| Facility / Housing Code | Main Jail or a housing code such as S-2C, S-3H, or N-501 in service records. |
| Charges | Charge descriptions, warrant numbers, offense dates, arresting agency, bond type, and disposition fragments when present. |
| Mugshot Flags | The app supports front, left, and right mugshot flags, but the inspected sample had all flags false. |
Muscogee County Jail Search Screens
The Muscogee County Court Portal page lists public access to Smart Search, Jail Search, Hearing Search, and payments, which helps separate custody records from court records.
That portal placement explains why a user may move between Jail Search for custody and Smart Search for the case filed after arrest.
Muscogee County Custody Channels
A search can fail because the person is in the wrong system, not because there is no record. Local arrests usually route to the Muscogee County Jail. Sentenced Georgia offenders move into the GDC search path. Federal inmates can be in BOP custody or another federal process, and immigration custody uses ICE ODLS. The Columbus Police FAQ also routes custody questions for people who committed crimes in Muscogee County to the county jail phone line.
| Custody | Where to Look | Use When |
|---|---|---|
| County jail | Tyler Jail Search | The person was arrested locally or is held in the Muscogee County Jail. |
| State prison | GDC Offender Query | The person has been sentenced to GDC custody or assigned to Muscogee County Correctional Institution. |
| Federal prison | BOP Inmate Locator | The person is in federal custody from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | The person is in current ICE custody or CBP custody over 48 hours. |
Muscogee County Jail Facilities
Facility contact matters because the roster does not answer every jail operation, visitation, bond, or records question. The county jail is the local booking and custody facility. The correctional institution is a state-prison style work facility, so its lookup path and visiting rules differ.

Muscogee County Booking Process
After arrest, a person held locally is taken through Muscogee County Jail intake. The sheriff's page says the jail has a new intake section and houses the Sheriff's Identification Section, where fingerprinting and classification are provided for all law-enforcement agencies for all Muscogee County inmates. A jail record then appears as a Tyler jailing record with booking number, SO number, booking date and time, arresting agency, charges, and release details when applicable.
Court timing follows a separate path. Columbus Police FAQ material and Recorder's Court information say a person generally has a first appearance or preliminary hearing within 72 hours unless bond has been made or the hearing is waived. That hearing can address rights, charges, probable cause, and bail for eligible offenses. For formal charges and hearings after that point, move from jail records to the court portal.
Muscogee County Visitation Records
The county jail building page says the jail has a visitation section, but no official public visitation schedule, dress code, ID list, or video visitation schedule was located in the inspected sheriff pages. The sheriff FAQ tells the public to call the jail for when someone can be visited and for jail operations questions. That means the phone line is the safest supported channel before travel.
| Facility | Published Schedule | Best Confirmed Channel |
|---|---|---|
| Muscogee County Jail | No official schedule found in inspected pages | Call 706-653-4258 |
| Muscogee County Correctional Institution | Saturday or Sunday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, not both | Call 706-641-5800 |
Muscogee County Inmate Mail
County jail mail has a specific scanning rule. Non-legal and non-commercial mail must go through JailATM.com or the scanning address published by the sheriff. Original mail is destroyed after scanning, and missing inmate name or ID information may cause mail to be lost or misdirected. Legal and commercial mail continues to go directly to the facility.
| Topic | Official Detail |
|---|---|
| County jail mail vendor | JailATM / Tech Friends, Inc. |
| Scanning address | JailATM.com - Muscogee County Jail, INMATE ID: INMATE FULL NAME, 925B Peachtree St. NE, Box 2062, Atlanta, GA 30309 |
| Electronic messages | Available through JailATM.com with sign-in/register controls. |
| Money accounts | JailATM public entry point requires sign in or registration; no public fee table was visible in static research. |
Note: Confirm custody status before sending money because release or transfer can change the correct facility and vendor path.
Request Muscogee County Inmate Records
Records not visible in the roster can be requested through the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office open-records process. The form includes checkboxes for Incident Report, Video, and Other, plus fields for case number, date, location, incident type, requester contact details, and a broad description for all reports for an address or person. The requester agrees to pay processing costs, but the form did not publish a dollar fee schedule.
Send sheriff records requests to mcsoorr@columbusga.org or to the Records Custodian, Muscogee County Sheriff's Office, 100 10th Street, Columbus, Georgia 31902. The form lists the sheriff phone as 706-653-4225 and fax as 706-653-4234. Court copies, accusations, indictments, and dispositions use the clerk's separate criminal copy request path.
